  1. I really like the version of Greenday’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams used in this video. Does anyone know the artists?

  2. No, but I liked it too. And those pixelator boxes are amazing! They’re absolutely fantastic, I’d love to have something like that as art just hanging in my apartment. I don’t live in NYC; what are the screens that they’re being hung on? Just TV screens that play advertisements all the time?

  3. @John,

Yeah, at the entrance to some subway stops there are video screens that play big bright ads.

  4. I could not tell you the artist of the song, but you can get the MP3, or any conversion of the video here: http://www.zamzar.com

Just copy and paste the URL of the site with the video like “http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5t3kf_stainedglass_creation” and choose to convert it to mp3/avi etc. The site works on a few major video sites like youtube…

Hmm, tried this 10 minutes ago and still have not got an email with the conversion, might not work on Dailymotion… That or they are slow today.

  5. That’d be Gregorian, redoing Greenday’s ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’. They’ve done covers for Metallica, Pink Floyd, REM, etc. too.

But does anyone know the second bit (around 3:55)? It tickles the memory banks but nothing’s coming through…

  6. Beautiful! I’m happy to see more and more people doing projects like this, i.e., disrupting TV screens with low tech hacks. Brian Eno used TVs as light sources in installations in the 80s, Jason Eppink nods to several others on his Pixelator page, and I did it in a much sloppier, found materials way with How to Fix Your TV (http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO-FIX-YOUR-TV/). Good stuff.
